How to Suffer Well

Suffering is something we usually don’t want to think about, let alone think about doing well. In this talk, Christy talks about her struggles with suffering as a mother and wife during challenging circumstances within her family. She talks about how if we learn to suffer well, it refines us, can lead to holiness and sainthood, and help us to live out the extraordinary in the ordinary,  deepening our trust in God. Christina testifies the fact that when Christ brings you to it, He will see you through it.

Finding Joy in Your Season

Christina discusses finding joy in the state of life you are in. Sometimes we may think life will be better when…., but God has a call for us where we are at, for such a time as this season we are in. There are many times of the year that schedules can collide and there are chances for new habits to form. It takes intentionality to get off the gerbil wheel, choose to stop reacting and choose to be intentional. Christina talks about “mono-tasking”, a phrase coined by the podcast, “Catholic Stuff You Should Know”, as well as choosing to be present and intentional  in our actions as we navigate the changes taking place in our lives.

In this talk, Christina talks about living the true reality in our lives of prayer and how we are called to bring this extraordinary calling into our ordinary lives. There are many different types of prayer for the many different seasons and states of life. She talks about how prayer doesn’t have to be a big formal event but a relationship and conversation with Someone we want to get to know more fully and wants us to be truly known to Him. Christina discusses how you can choose peace in all circumstances. She talks about the times in her life when she has experienced big upheaval through family crises of mental health struggles and discovering the peace that surpasses all understanding. Christina opens with the discussion on how we tend to prepare to celebrate but then don’t always celebrate well. She pose the question, “Why is that?” After contemplating this, she moves into why is rest important? How does it go hand-in-hand with celebration?
